| Description | Indexed. Includes some stray Bull Street Preparative Meeting minutes, dated 1891, of a committee which was established to explore the possibility of creating a collection to display in Bull Street Meeting House of portraits of deceased Friends and other pictures which depicted the history of the Society of Friends and its members. A number of members of the Preparative Meeting gave pictures and portraits or agreed to bequeath their portraits to the meeting. Some of the paintings are described in the minutes and a catalogue of the paintings was created. A later note, added in 1958, explains that when the current meeting house was built in 1933, a collection of portraits was taken down. Some of the paintings were given to those who were interested in taking them while the remainder were stored in the basement until c.1950. At that point, any which were in a good condition were removed from their frames and stored in the strongroom at Bull Street Meeting House. |
