DescriptionIndexed. Includes an illustrated account of a rowing trip undertaken in May 1857 in the 'Seagull' by Wilson Sturge and other young Friends, entitled 'The Log of the Seagull'. A newspaper cutting from the Gloucester Journal, dated May 23 1857 describes their journey during which they rowed down the River Severn to Gloucester and from there along the Berkley Canal to the River Thames, staying in inns along the route. Once in London, they attended Yearly Meeting and there is a humorous description of their appearance there. Also includes an essay on housing entitled, 'The houses we live in' which advocates the need for improved housing conditions.
