TitleQuaker Life in Warwickshire Monthly Meeting, previously Warwickshire Monthly Meeting Home Service Committee
LevelSub Series
Date1970 - 2003
DescriptionThe Home Service Committee was established by Warwickshire Monthly Meeting in 1969 as requested by the Elders and Overseers working group. Its first meeting was in May 1970 and its responsibilities were to provide opportunities for strengthening and renewing the spiritual life of the Society of Friends, to support isolated Friends, to encourage and support the development of new meetings, to help Friends to enter into dialogue with members of other churches and faiths, and to publicise Quakerism in order to attract new members. The Committee was made up of representatives from each Preparative Meeting.

It carried out its work by allocating specific areas to groups of Friends on the Committee, and much of this work has continued into the 21st century. One group worked on the production of a regular newsletter so that all members of the Monthly Meeting could access information about Friends and the work they were doing across the region, while others undertook press and publicity activities. Another group organised and undertook intervisitation (visits to other meetings) and provided support to smaller meetings or those which were further away. An enquiry centre and lunch time meetings was established for attenders and those interested in finding out more about Quakerism. Basic statistical data was collated by another group regarding membership and its distribution over specific periods in the 20th century to see how it had developed and how this could provide information for future action.

The Committee changed its name to Quaker Life in Warwickshire Monthly Meeting in 2001.
