DescriptionA Pastoral Committee was established at Moseley Road on 27th May 1903 to manage and arrange administrative matters relating to the congregations of Moseley Road and its branches at Bordesley and Greet. A number of smaller sub-committees took on specific responsibilities. These included arranging a list of speakers for the year and finding substitutes as necessary; appointing stewards and ensuring that arrangements for meetings for worship were carried out and were orderly; selecting hymns, providing advice on the arrangement of music and overseeing the choir; making arrangements for the United Congregational Gatherings (meetings with an address and music, open to all congregations of Moseley Road and its branches); receiving collections; visiting those were ill or absent, maintaining a list of associates and a list of those regularly attending meetings, visiting all associates and regular attenders once a year; caring for the Morning Meeting, Children's Meeting, Open Air Meeting, Tuesday Night Meeting and Prayer Meeting. Barrow Cadbury was Clerk, and the Committee met monthly. From 1905 onwards, a United Pastoral Committee was created at which representatives from Moseley Road and its branches held meetings together bi-monthly, and each branch also held its own bi-monthly Pastoral Committee meetings. See SF/3/15/2/2 for further details.
