| Description | The Standing Committee met once a month. Its duties consisted of considering applications from members of Northfield branch of Severn Street Christian Society wishing to become associate members of the Society of Friends; preparing reports for the Quarterly Congregational Meeting relating to morning and evening meetings, the men's class and women's meeting, the Children's School and Temperance work; maintaining, updating and annually printing a list of names and addresses of members and associates of the Society of Friends; preparing matters which came before the Quarterly Congregational meeting; appointing visitors to call on new residents and to invite them to meetings and the adult school; reporting on the amount of money collected at meetings and how it was spent; revising a list of readers for the evening meeting; considering any secular or religious concern of any of its members. |
