| Description | A Finance Committee was appointed following a resolution passed at the first meeting of the newly appointed trustees held on 27 September 1882 and the Code of Instructions referred to at that meeting. The committee comprised the chairman, treasurer, honourable secretary and four other members, and was appointed to consider the preparation of rules as to the method of examining, paying and passing accounts, which were to be submitted to the next meeting of the Finance Committee. On 23 October 1882 it was stipulated that a payment book be submitted to the Finance Committee at every meeting, usually every fortnight. If examined and found correct, the treasurer was authorised to give cheques. They were also required to submit bank pass books and cash books for inspection by the committee. The surviving minutes include some printed accounts, payments and other material relating to the Trustees of the church (for example, burial rights, costs of building works) and proposals for building and maintenance work undertaken on the church building and grounds, as well as more general information about the passing of accounts. |
