| Description | The Congregational Reading Society met once a year to discuss any general business and to consider the reports of the society's treasurer on the group's accounts. The minutes includes a copy of the terms of reference and rules of the Congregational Reading Society set down at their first meeting of 14 December 1836, details of subscriptions paid by society members, information on periodicals purchased, with more detailed balance sheets and statements of income and expenditure presented at the back of the volume. There are minute books surviving for two of the districts where the society was based, one at Edgbaston and one on the Bristol Road. |
