| Description | Some early minutes and all of the minutes BCC/1/AC/3/1/14 - 59 indexed. The minutes are handwritten and printed and signed by the committee chairman. Minutes dated before November 1890 are currently missing (see BCC/1/AC/3/1/1). Minutes BCC/1/AC/3/1/2 - 13 and BCC/1/AC/3/1/26 onwards are uniformly titled minute volumes'. Minutes BCC/1/AC/3/1/14 - 25 are on the appropriately dated combined sub-committee minute volumes (see BCC/1/AC/8). The minutes include information about serving officers, including medical details and acts of personal bravery and lists of officers granted awards for their conduct on duty. The minutes that cover the war years also note the deaths of police officers currently serving in the armed forces (see BCC/1/AC/3/1/35 - 41), as well as detailing the duties of those serving on the Home Front (for example, enforcement of blackouts, and other information, such as deaths and injuries sustained in road accidents and the licensing of Hackney Carriages. The earliest sub-committee minutes were never deposited with Birmingham Archives and Heritage (see BCC/1/AC/3/1/1 below). |
