AdminHistoryThe Entertainments Sub-Committee derived from the Industrial Development Sub-Committee on the British Industries Fair (see BCC 1/AG/23). It was appointed in December 1945 to continue responsibility for the Birmingham Information Bureau and support the Fair. However, as the remit of the sub-committee related more to public relations than industrial development, and it was decided to re-constitute the committee. Served by its own Information Department, the sub-committee also became responsible for advertising, public and tourist information and the Citizen’s Advice Bureau. In June 1966, the sub-committee was amalgamated with the Entertainments Sub-Committee (see BCC 1/AG/30), to form the Entertainments and Information Sub-Committee (see BCC 1/AG/35).
