DescriptionThe minutes are handwritten and signed by the committee chairman. The minutes are in uniformly titled minute volumes. The minutes include information on the public buildings and other property owned by the Council, including details on acquisition and rental, inspections of property (including houses in the Improvement Area of central Birmingham scheduled for renovation of demolition), the lease of Council land for commercial purposes (i.e. provision of telegraph poles), the extension, cleaning and maintenance of public buildings, some sketch plans relating to proposed works, tenders and associated material concerning staffing matters and finance. The minute volumes also contain the reports of the Curator of the Council House Buildings. The minutes of 9 December 1913 include an application made to the Estates Department by the Amalgamated Society of Glass Workers, Brick Makers and General Labourers regarding the wages paid to stokers employed on the Council House extension works dated October 1913, with particulars of employment arrangements and wages for other departments (see minute 1909 in BCC/1/AM/8/1/3).
