AdminHistoryThis sub-committee, also known as the Meat Market Construction Sub-Committee, was formed by the main committee to make arrangements for, and superintend the erection of, a new dead meat market and slaughterhouses, later to be called the City Meat Market on Bradford Street, and opened in 1897. The sub-committee liaised with architects, the city surveyor and private companies on the design and facilities within the new market.
