AdminHistoryThe Buildings Sub-Committee derived from a Special Sub-Committee appointed in August 1860 (see BCC 1/AT/10). It comprised of several members of what became the Free Libraries Committee. The function of this sub-committee was to consider the structure and arrangement of the buildings that were designated to house the central and initial branch libraries. The sub-committee may have been disbanded for after May 1868, or there may be a gap in proceedings; a new meeting minute sequence started around 1875 (see BCC 1/AT/2/1/3). A new sub-committee was appointed in December 1889 (see BCC 1/AT/8 Sites and Buildings Sub-Committee).
