| AdminHistory | The Reference Library Books Sub-Committee was appointed in May 1879. It comprised of three members of the main committee, although this later increased to seven. Its initial function was to recommend to the Management Sub-Committee whether to accept offers of donations, and what book purchases to make for the new Reference Library, following the fire of January 1879. The sub-committee was in effect a sub-sub-committee to the Management Sub-Committee. However, it also advised on book cost issues and of course continued even after the Library was restocked after the fire, and has therefore been listed as a separate sub-committee. In January 1891 the Management Sub-Committee appointed a Lending Library Book Sub-Committee to carry out the same function (see BCC/1/AT/9). |
