AccessConditionsThe minutes of the St Francis Residential School Management Committee contain sensitive personal data about children throughout. The minutes include details of children with epilepsy, mental health and behavioural problems who attended Moneyhull Residential School, and give names of children, ages, details of disability and treatment. The records have therefore been closed for 100 years, in accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998).
AdminHistoryBefore January 1952, the St Francis Residential School, Kings Heath, for children with epilepsy, mental health or behavioural problems or learning difficulties was known as the Monyhull Residential School. All maintenance of the school was the responsibility of the Education Committee from 1948, who in turn delegated it to the Special Schools Sub-Committee. For background information and earlier records of the school when reporting to the Special Schools Sub-Committee see the Monyhull School Management Committee minutes (BCC/1/BH/5/6/1). From October 1949 the School Management Committee reported to the newly created Special Services Sub-Committee (please note that the 1949 - 1951 minutes are listed with the Special Schools Sub-Committee records as they are in a volume of minutes which starts in 1948, see BCC/1/BH/5). With the change in name of the school in 1952 the Committee became known as the St Francis Residential School Management Committee.
