AdminHistoryIn February 1905, the Higher Education Sub-Committee resolved that a Training School for Teachers of Cookery and Laundry Work Sub-Committee be appointed to manage the Training School for Teachers of Cookery and Laundry Work at Bath Row and Corporation Street as the Higher Education Sub-Committee had become responsible for the maintenance of the School since 1903. The committee consisted of the Chairman of the Higher Education Sub-Committee and the female members of the Education Committee and the District School Managers. As the School trained students from all over the Midlands at the expense of Birmingham, the Higher Education Sub-Committee attempted to secure financial support from the other Local Education Authorities in the area for a proposed School of Domestic Science. When this assistance was not forthcoming, the Higher Education Sub-Committee closed the Training School in March 1909; the Training School for Teachers of Cookery and Laundry Work Sub-Committee also last finally during that month. The Bath Row premises were still used to provide accommodation for the instruction of children in cookery.
