DescriptionMinute volumes indexed and signed by the committee Chairman. The first volume of this sub series is currently missing (see BCC/1/BH/5/2/1/1). The second volume is handwritten (see BCC/1/BH/5/2/1/2), whilst the majority of the third volume has typescript minutes pasted into the volume, and a partial index (see BCC/1/BH/5/2/1/3). The volumes were originally accessioned under the reference code MS 280/1. The minutes that date after 1949 are not listed with the Special Services Sub-Committee records as they are in a volume which could not physically be split between both the Special Schools Sub-Committee records and the Special Services Sub-Committee records.

The Special Schools (later Special Services) After-Care Sub-Committee minutes record the number of cases and number of visitations made by After Care Visitors. The Visitors names are given but not the names of the persons visited. The appointment and resignation of Visitors is recorded and details of the running of clubs and occupation centres. The minutes also list the number of married cases and other cases deemed suitable for discharge from statutory or voluntary visitation and the names of the individuals concerned. The names of those discharged from statutory visitation were reported to the Mental Deficiency Act Committee (see BCC/1/BY) and later the Health Committee (see BCC/1/CT) and the names of those discharged from voluntary supervision were reported to the School Attendance Department so that contact could be maintained with the children of discharged cases.

The names of those for discharge from statutory visitation and the names of individuals concerned were reported to the Mental Deficiency Act Committee (see BCC/1/AF) and later the Health Committee (see BCC/1/AR), and the names of those for discharge from voluntary supervision were reported to the School Attendance Department so that contact could be maintained with the children of discharged cases.
