| AdminHistory | The General Purposes Sub-Committee was formed around the same time as the main Distress Committee to carry out the provisions of the Unemployed Workmen’s Act. The function of this sub-committee was to advise and consider any matters placed before it by the main committee, including the consideration of working hours, uses of workers and wage rates.
