| AdminHistory | This sub-committee was formed in November 1911, and consisted of eight members of the main committee. Its main health functions were to administer the Corporation hospitals (Little Bromwich, Lodge Road, Witton, West Heath and the Broad Street Tuberculosis Centre) and sanatoria (Yardley Road and Salterley Grange, Cheltenham). It also inspected cowsheds, canal boats and other property for nuisance value, and analysed foodstuffs and the milk supply to ensure it was of sufficient quality and free from harmful bacteria. The sub-committee also reported on smoke emissions from factories, monitored the spread of infectious diseases such as smallpox, scarlet fever, tuberculosis and diphtheria. After June 1917, the sub-committee continued as a part of the Public Health Committee. |
