Minute volumes BCC/1/BN/1/1/1 - 4 are entitled 'Parks Committee'. The minutes compiled after January 1921 (BCC/1/BN/1/1/6 - 23) comprise uniform bound volumes, with full title, purpose and dates written on the front covers and spine. Some minute books also contain periodical financial returns and general summaries for the Parks (and Cemeteries) Department. The minutes include the reports individual sub-committees of the Parks Committee, the reports of the General Manager and Secretary of the Parks Committee regarding the general upkeep and maintenance of various parks, with related staffing and financial information, information on the acquisition of land for new and existing parks, tables detailing park use, inventories of equipment for parks and playing fields, police reports detailing accidents on public spaces, details of planning applications for parks works, schedules of public readings (religious, Christian church only) for various religious denominations in public parks and spaces, reports of entertainments and events scheduled for public parks, accounts and statements of income and expenditure, and related correspondence and papers. The reports of the Cemeteries Sub-Committee also include a considerable amount of detail about proposed increases in cemetery fees and information relating to burial rights (see also BCC/1/BO/5). |
