| Description | Comprises mainly records of the Birmingham General Cemetery Company, 1832-1951, and the Birmingham Church of England Cemetery Company, 1845-1950. The cemeteries administered by these companies eventually fell under the remit of the Handsworth Cemetery, whilst the burial grounds were eventually acquired by Birmingham City Council by compulsory purchase in 1952. The records of these companies were transferred to Birmingham Central Library in 1998. |
