The minutes are in the appropriately dated combined sub-committee minute volume (see BCC/1/BQ/8). The minutes include lists of candidates (with application details) that applied for various positions (including Keeper of collections) at the new museum. The minutes of 18 January 1949 include a filed report numbered '48.199' entitled 'Report on Premises at Rear of Messrs Elkington for City Museum & Art Gallery', dated 14 January 1949 (see minutes 9 - 10 in BCC/1/BQ/7/1/1) and the minutes of 15 February 1950 include a report detailing the proposed acquisition of Elkington's for the purposes of building works (see minutes 34 - 35 in BCC/1/BQ/7/1/1), which includes a photographic print the site plan bounded by Fleet Street, Newhall Street and Charlotte Street. |
