| AdminHistory | The Works Sub-Committee was established in March 1938, and consisted of five to six main committee members Its purpose was to make arrangements for the clearance of debris and the dealing with unsafe buildings; the rescue of trapped people; the decontamination of highways, public places and other areas; to arrange for repair of highways, sewers, public places, and co-ordinate the authorities responsible for such repairs and public utility undertakings; the protection of important premises; the arrangement and shelter provision; and regulation of lighting. This body was disestablished during the re-organisation of the sub-committees in November 1941. |
