AdminHistoryThe Basic Quantities Sub-Committee was appointed just once during September 1939, and consisted of five members from the main Fuel Advisory Committee. Its function was to advise the committee on methods to be employed in determining basic quantities of coal and coke, depending on the house size, season and number of occupants, under the Fuel and Lighting Order of 1939, which came into effect following the outbreak of World War Two.
