AdminHistoryThe Smallholdings and Allotments Committee was appointed in 1964, when the individual Smallholdings (see BCC/1/CW) and Allotments (see BCC/1/CA) committees were merged, at the recommendation of the General Purposes Committee in the interests of efficiency. The new committee undertook the same roles as those of its predecessors, as in all matters regarding finance, acquisition, disposal, administration and letting relevant to small holdings and allotments within and outside the city limit. The new chairman was appointed to serve on the General Purposes Committee. After the Agriculture Act of 1970, there was no longer a need to maintain a Smallholdings Committee, and in 1971 the functions of the committee were devolved to separate committees.
