| AdminHistory | The Daventry Development Committee was a joint committee, comprising representatives of Birmingham City Council, Northamptonshire County Council and Daventry Borough Council. The function of the committee was to lay down a scheme for the urban development of Daventry, with regard to building, access, recreational facilities and the extension of services. Daventry was designated as an ‘overspill’ town for the growing city of Birmingham, which is why the City Council became involved. Despite the town being just outside of Northampton, it is linked to Birmingham by both rail and the A45 road. It was one of several designated overspill towns, including Tamworth and Redditch. |
