| AdminHistory | The Department Purchasing Officers Committee was a co-operative formed from designated ‘purchasing’ officials from the ten departments of Birmingham City Council in October 1946. Its function was to meet at quarterly intervals to review contracts and discuss matters of mutual interest, for example, workmen’s clothing. Further, the committee was to supervise co-operative purchasing on behalf of the Corporation. The committee reported to the Officials’ Advisory Committee. After a report by the Working Party of the Contracts and Stores Sub-Committee, the Officials’ Advisory Committee was discontinued and a Central Purchasing Advisory Committee was substituted (see BCC/1/DC). |
