AdminHistoryOn 13 December 1968 a conference was held at the Council House, Birmingham chaired by Councillor J.C. Silk, plus sixteen other representatives drawn from Birmingham City Council, local cultural organisations such as the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and the City Museum and Art Gallery, and the local press and media. The conference was held to discuss arrangements for a city-wide 'Festival of Entertainments' in Birmingham scheduled for September 1969. The committee was reappointed to consider future events, such as the Festival of Motoring (1970), the two Triennial Music Festivals (1971 and 1974), and a Drama Festival (1973), an Italian-themed Festival (1974), and a Festival of Light (1975). Unfortunately no minutes survive after November 1973, and it is unclear when the committee was formally disbanded.
