AdminHistoryThe Traffic Arbitration Committee was established in May 1959. It consisted of five members of the City Council that were not members of the Public Works, Transport or Watch Committees. The function of this committee was to act as an arbitration service and determine any dispute between any of the Council committees involved with traffic and transport, namely the Watch, Transport and Public Works Committees. Matters of dispute were cited as including the relieving of traffic congestion and general issues, including pedestrian safety and improving traffic flow.
