| AdminHistory | The Joint Committee on Nursing Staff was formed in November 1947, and consisted of representatives from the Health, Mental Hospitals, Mental Deficiency, Education, Public Assistance and Salaries, Wages and Labour Committees. Its function was to make recommendations to the Salaries, Wages and Labour Committee (see BCC/1/BU) on remuneration, establishment and recruitment of nurses in preparation to the establishment of the state-funded National Health Service in 1948. The committee ceased in May 1948, and its functions became the responsibility of the Regional Hospitals Board. |
