| Description | Indexed. Each page contains an entry for one child, giving their details, physical description, offence they were charged with, their parentage, their level of education and their destination on leaving. Each page also contains space for reports on their conduct in and after leaving the place of detention, but these have usually been left blank. Children in this volume were often found 'wandering' or remanded into a place of safety; many of them were discharged back to their parents, to the workhouse, or to Dr Barnardo's or Middlemore Homes. Ages of children in this volume appear to range from 18 months to 15 years. |
