DescriptionGP AS/3/1/1 is headed 'Schedule B, Form 7'. The relevant Poor Law Commission Order informs us that such a ledger was to contain, 'under proper heads of account, duly arranged, the various items of money transactions contained in the Minute Book' (see GP AS/1/1/1). The ledger itself includes income and expenditure accounts for the parishes, individual accounts for the various functions of the Workhouse and Union, including those for provisions, registration, clothing and vaccination, the accounts of various Union officials, including the Relieving Officer and Treasurer, and the official yearly Union balance sheet, certified and signed by district auditor. Each item is cross-referenced with the appropriate page in the corresponding year's Board minute book.

Volumes GP AS/3/1/2-11 are headed 'General Ledger', and are also referred to as 'Schedule B, Form 11', described in the Poor Law Commission Orders as 'a quarterly abstract of the Union Accounts, showing the number of paupers of all classes actually relieved, and the amount of expenditure for the last Quarter, and other particulars' (see GP AS/1/1/1). In fact, their format is the same as that of GP AS/3/1/1, with income and expenditure accounts under a wide range of headings. These are listed in full at the front of the volumes, along with the indexes.
