| Description | Another of the Clerk's responsibilities was to maintain the financial records of the Union. For Aston, the main surviving series is made up of ledgers. A useful source of information regarding the Union's financial records is the volume of Poor Law Commission orders, 1836-1857 (GP AS/1/1/1), which includes those orders from the central authority describing how the Union was to manage its accounts, and which official forms were to be used. Along with these ledgers, a number of land valuation returns for Aston Union can be found in the King's Norton Union collection (GP KN), at GP KN/3/1. |
