TitleStores and Contracts Committee
LevelSub Series
Date1912 - 1930
DescriptionThe Stores and Contracts committee was founded in 1912 following the amalgamation of the Aston, Birmingham and King's Norton Unions. Consisting of nine Guardians, the committee continued the work of the earlier Stores committee (see GP/2/11/1, above), but this time for a much wider area. The committee's main duty was 'to make arrangements for the supply of such goods, materials and appliances, required at the several Institutions and Departments of the Board as can conveniently be supplied,' and to discuss matters affecting supplies with the other committees. The Stores and Contracts committee continued in this capacity until the dissolution of the Poor Law Guardians in 1930.

The volumes contain details on all of the above duties carried out by the committee, from the inviting of tenders from local tradesmen and the testing of samples, to the running and maintenance of the stores themselves.
