| Description | The Infirmary House sub-committee was appointed in May 1898 by the Workhouse Infirmary Management committee. Consisting of seven Guardians, the sub-committee's duties included 'the supervision of the duties of the Master (in so far as they are related to the requirements of the inmates), the Matron, Medical Staff, Chaplain and Religious Instructor, Nurses, Probationers, Male Ward Attendants, Attendants in Epileptic and Receiving Wards, Storekeepers, Dispensers, the staff in the Kitchens and the Laundries, Domestic Servants and Cleaners. On it [the sub-committee] would devolve the supervision of the Stores and Clothing, the renewal and alteration of furniture and fittings, and all requirements of food, maintenance, and necessaries.' (see GP B/2/4/5/1) The sub-committee continued to operate until April 1906, at which point it was disbanded by the Workhouse Infirmary Management committee.
The volumes contain minutes on all of the above topics, along with information on the Guardians themselves, their election and resignation from the sub-committee. The volumes are not indexed. |
