Date1911
DescriptionThe Pathological, Bacteriological and X-ray departments sub-committee was set up in January 1911, in response to a report by the Workhouse Infirmary Management committee. The report had stated that the Union's hospital required these new facilities 'in order to bring the Infirmary up to what is now regarded as a state of efficiency for a hospital and to give our patients the best chance of recovery.' (see GP B/2/4/7/1, below) Consisting of five Guardians, the sub-committee was founded in order to investigate the costs involved and the facilities needed for a Pathological and Bacteriological Laboratory and an X-Ray department. The Board of Guardians agreed with the sub-committee's findings, and the facilities were put into place in 1912.

The volume contains details of the sub-committee's discussions regarding the facilities required, and the duties of the staff employed within these departments. Also included is a printed copy of the Workhouse Infirmary Management committee's report, which initially led to the founding of the sub-committee. The volume is not indexed.
