| Description | The Council's Sectional Assistance sub-committees were responsible for each area of what was previously the Poor Law Union, and reported to the Central Assistance sub-committee. From the minutes, it appears that the majority of the sub-committee's work involved issuing maintenance orders against individuals, to force them to provide for their families, and also warrants for the arrest of individuals who had deserted their families. All of the surviving minutes are made up of references to individual cases, with authorisation given to the Warrant Officer to assist in them. |
