| Description | The special committee was appointed by the Board of Guardians in April 1908 'to investigate and report upon the whole system of Outdoor and Indoor Relief of this Board.' Consisting of seven Guardians, the committee met regularly during the period 1908-1909, and their discussions resulted in a report on the Birmingham relief system. Unfortunately, no copies of this report survive. However, the volume does include a copy of the committee's interim report to the Board of Guardians, presented in October 1908. - Along with the minutes of the meetings, the volume also contains some of the evidence - in the form of reports and statements - submitted to the committee. The volume is not indexed. |
