DescriptionThe Office Maintenance committee was founded in 1885, and was 'empowered to take charge of the whole of the [Union] Offices, including Gas, Water and heating arrangements the keeping in repair of all furniture, fixtures and fittings to purchase by tender or otherwise as shall be deemed best all stores The committee also to have the control of the men and women under them [and] to allocate the use of rooms for committee meetings.' (see GP B/2/9/5/1) Consisting of three Guardians, the committee was closely linked to the Store and Reference committee (see GP B/2/11/1), many of whose duties the former took over. The committee continued to operate until 1894, but what happened to it after this date is unclear - its end may be connected to the sale of the parish offices, of which there was a supervising committee (see GP B/2/9/6, below).

The minutes contain details on all of the duties outlined above, along with those others connected with the maintenance and administration of the parish offices.
