| Description | According to the Board of Guardians minutes for the period, the Survey and Valuation committee was founded in 1832 in order 'to devise the best mode of carrying into effect that portion of the Guardian Act which directs a New Survey and Valuation of the Parish to be made and to report the result of their deliberations to a Special Meeting of the Guardians as early as possible' (see GP B/2/1/3).
The exact purpose and scope of the Act is unclear, but the committee was made up of 17 Guardians. The minutes themselves contain information on the valuation of properties within the Union, which include the name of the ratepayer and some basic details on the property itself. The volume is not indexed. |
