TitleLocal Government Board letters
LevelSub Series
Date1900 - 1901
DescriptionAlong with the Orders themselves, the Union regularly received correspondence and circulars from the Local Government Board and its predecessors. These dealt with a wide range of topics, for example the regular inspections of the Union's facilities, or changes in Poor Law legislation. Often, these letters acted merely as a confirmation of any decision the Guardians had made, and which required central government approval - for example, the appointment of a new Union official, or a major capital purchase by the Workhouse.
