| Description | Along with keeping records of those children born within the Union, and ensuring that they were vaccinated, the Vaccination Officers also had responsibility for treating those whose birth had been registered outside the Union, but who now resided within it. The volumes have an identical format to the vaccination registers, containing the child's name, place and date of birth (often very approximately, particularly with those children born overseas) and the parents' names. The father's occupation is frequently given for the early entries - however, this is later more commonly replaced by the family's current address. The volumes are not indexed. |
