| Description | Acc 2008/096 Record of work done at the Birmingham Children's Hospital on metabolic disorders in children. There is a particular focus on the pioneering treatment of phenylketonuria (PKU) by Dr. Evelyn M. Hickmans (born in Wolverhampton, graduated from the University of Birmingham ), Professor Horst Bickel, visiting physician from Germany and Dr. John Gerard through dietary means. The three doctors received the John Scott award in 1962 and attended the Silver Jubilee of the Clinical Chemistry unit of the hospital in 1987.
Acc 2021/043 The majority of the papers relate to research by Professor Anne Green into the pioneering treatment of Sheila Jones for PKU (Phenylketonuria, raised levels of Phenylalanine in the blood) at Birmingham Children's Hospital in the early 1950s.
