DescriptionAssociate Professor Karen Ford shares her journey from training in adult nursing to working with children in Tasmania. She talks of her experience of transitioning from children’s intensive care in a city hospital to a children's ward in a rural area and then working in another rural setting caring mainly for adults (as well as having to peel potatoes and prepare the veggies during the night shift for the kitchen staff)! She talks of working in children’s nursing and her passion for the roles she has undertaken and the rewards of nursing including the opportunity to make a difference when children and families are in difficult spaces. She talks of her commitment to family centred care, pursuing a masters and PhD and her career progression and how she won scholarships and made international connections.
