| Description | Associate Professor Stephen McKeever shares his journey of becoming an adult trained nurse including the serendipitous way he chose his training hospital. He talks of his move from being an adult intensive care nurse to becoming a children's nurse and his work in various paediatric critical care units. He talks of his experience working at the Newborn and Paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS) in Australia, flying in helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft to stabilize children in emergency situations. He talks of his experiences of working in many situations including in academia, about this PhD research, the importance of and becoming the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Child Health Care. He talks of the importance of valuing children's voices in healthcare research, particularly in understanding the impact of care on their well-being. He emphasises the importance of the UK’s style of children's nursing education. |
