Applicant overview: Footprints was established in 1991 to advance education and to protect health; and in particular to provide in the Poleglass area of west Belfast facilities in the interests of social welfare for the education, recreation and leisure-time occupation of women who by reason of social or economic circumstances have need of such facilities with the object of improving their conditions of life. Responding to the needs of local women and their families, the Centre has filled recognised gaps in community services and offers a relaxing and welcoming environment, where local women are encouraged and supported to build self-esteem, confidence and develop skills through participation in the range of programmes and activities on offer. Nature of support: In 1991 the Trust agreed to two annual grants of £5,000 towards the salary costs of a full-time project worker.
