Funding source(s): Barrow Cadbury Trust, Gender Programme. Applicant overview: The HEFC is Coventry and Warwickshire’s largest independent, local grant maker. It was established in 1995 and awards major grants targeting the money efficiently to where it makes the most impact in grassroots communities. The activities of the HEFC aim generally to bring the benefits of local philanthropy, especially long-term support, to grass roots community projects. The Coventry Women's Development Fund (CWDF) was established by the HECF, Coventry Voluntary Service Council (CVSC) and the Barrow Cadbury Trust. The Fund was established to support local community based initiatives that enable women to challenge and address local concerns and local issues of justice and equality. Nature of support: In 1997 on the advice of Gender Programme Relevant Trustees a grant of up to £25,000 per annum for three to five years to West Midlands local development funding for women's groups paid through the HECF.
