DescriptionGrant file containing correspondence, minutes, agendas, grant overviews, reports, project proposals and funding requests relating to research into women's voluntary organisations at the Centre for Institutional Studies (CIS), University of London. Funding source(s): Barrow Cadbury Trust, Gender Programme. Applicant overview: In 1997 the CIS proposed a three-year research project that aims to, 1) investigate the funding and development of women's organisations, 2) analyse how the capacity of women's organisations is helped or hindered by constraints and opportunities of their funding environment, and 3) disseminate information which develops the capacity and improves the capability of women's organisations. The project will establish the largest database of women's organisations, collect data on funding, resourcing and the development of women's organisations, develop informed dialogue with, and between, women's organisations through a rolling dissemination programme and provide an information and network exchange on funding and capacity building through regular reporting and regional seminars. This research is carried out in collaboration with the Women's Resource Centre (WRC). Nature of support: In 1997 Trust approved a single grant of £6,000 to the first phase of the project. In 1998 on the advice of Gender Programme Relevant Trustees the Trust agreed to three annual grants at £10,000, £15,000 and £15,000.
