There work includes holding a series of conferences for educators, social workers and medical professionals. NOISE aims include 1) promoting the formation of practical links between alternative social education centres, mainstream education and other relevant agencies, 2) providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and expertise among social education professionals, 3) influencing the formation of policy with respect to the education of young disaffected people, 4) pooling and disseminating information, 5) encouraging the formation of dialogue and practical links between organisations, 6) promoting professional standards and development, and 7) influencing the formation of national and local authority policy with respect to the education of disaffected young people. Nature of support: In 1981 the Trust agreed to a single grant of £135 toward the initial expenses of NOISE.
