| Description | 1. Copy letter to "My dear Sir", 10 Nov 1856. Asks for advice and help in using property at his disposal for the benefit of orphans. Sets out details of his own proposed scheme.
2. Copy letter to Rev. J.C.Miller, St Martin's Re tory, Birmingham, 22 May 1857. Thanks him, Mr Lea and others for "advice and assistance in reference to the foundation and opening of the proposed orphanage" and regrets that he and Mr Lea "do not feel at liberty to give unreserved and cordial support to the Institution" which they would have done but for Mason's own objection "to the introduction of the Church of England Catechism, as a basis for the religious instruction of the children". |
