TitleNomination papers 1871 - 1891, pupils admitted by purchase
LevelItem
Date29 January 1871 - 25 March 1890
DescriptionThis bundle contains further bundles of documents, each relating to an individual child. Each child's bundle contains copies of some or all of the following (depending on the child's circumstances): the parents' marriage certificate, baptism certificate and a birth certificate. All pupils' bundles contain a form that has been completed in order to recommend the child for admission to the school, these forms contain information on: the parents (their address and occupation), a 'medical certificate' (that is, a signed declaration that the child is free from illness or deformity), an extract of Rule 19 as to whether a child is eligible for nomination or not and a note on what a child is expected to bring, when admitted.

'Admitted by purchase' appears to reflect the fact that subscribers who were able to donate £60 in one year (or £65 over 3 years) were able to admit a child at any time of the year and seemingly from anywhere (cf. 'Rule XIX' which can be found printed in the front of the annual reports - MS 1622 1/5).

The bundle contains further bundles for 28 pupils.
